PE

Physical Education is a vital part of the children’s physical, mental and social development. Lessons here at Redbourn cater for all, ensuring every child has the opportunity to lead a healthy active lifestyle, and fulfil their sporting potential. To achieve this, a minimum of two PE lessons, of two hours, are provided weekly for all children. One hour a week is provided by our external P.E. Specialist (more information on www.allforsport.co.uk) who works closely with the P.E. co-ordinator and classroom teachers to ensure all pupils receive a broad range of outstanding sporting activities. The remaining hour is lead by the class teacher for that year group, who teach gymnastics and dance designed to cater for the appropriate skill level of those children in their respective year groups.

Throughout the year, children will experience sports such as Hockey, Cricket, Netball, Athletics, and Swimming (Year 3&4). We also provide ample opportunities for the children to take part in competitive sport, whether it be level one intra-school competitions held at the end of every half term, or level two inter-school competitions consisting of many schools from the local district/county. To complement our P.E. curriculum we also offer after school clubs provided by either our P.E. specialists or the class teachers themselves.
