Year 3

Weekly Update of w/e 12th January 2018

Welcome back.  We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a happy new year! The children have settled into their school routines very well this week and have certainly hit the ground running!. In maths we have been learning about perimeter and in English we have begun to look at traditional tales, focusing on Jack and the Beanstalk. We have also started our new topic on the Romans which will provide opportunities for some fantastic writing and creative activities over the term.

Next week……

We will be continuing to look at Jack and the Beanstalk and will be focusing on characterisation, in particular looking at the characters of Jack and the Giant.

The children will be looking at regrouping in addition and how this will help them to understand formal written methods for addition.

In preparation for our science lessons next week please read through the attached PowerPoint on Parts of a Plant.

English: T30- Did they really live happily ever after? pg. 72. Use the lined pages at the back of your book to complete your homework.

Maths: Times Table Rock Stars.

Please ensure your child reads at least three times per week at home. Please also sign their reading record so they can move up our Reading Challenge Ladder each week.

PE Slots

Monday afternoon (indoor) and Wednesday afternoon (outdoor.) Please ensure children have a full PE kit, including trainers, which should be kept in school all week.  As the weather is cold please also ensure they have suitable warm clothes for outdoor PE sessions.
